OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) – Oklahoma City Community College is receiving high marks from Forbes for its online psychology degree.

Forbes Advisor named OCCC’s online associate degree in psychology one of its “Best” for 2024.

The online psychology program was ranked one of the 10 best in the nation on the Forbes Advisor list of Best Online Associate Degrees In Psychology of 2024.

Forbes praised the program because it can lead to either entry-level positions or bachelor’s level studies in the psychology field.

“At Oklahoma City Community College (OCCC), learners can engage with an online Associate of Arts in psychology as a pathway to entry-level roles or continued bachelor’s-level study in the field. OCCC uses several distance delivery methods, such as asynchronous, synchronous, hybrid and on-campus learning,” the Forbes report states.

The report also praised OCCC’s low tuition cost and services benefiting students.

“Though OCCC does not charge flat-rate tuition, out-of-state learners pay only $90 more per credit. This college hosts student organizations such as the Psychology Club and Psi Beta National Honor Society, which learners can join to network and meet like-minded psychology students.”

The online psychology program is one of the many flexible learning options OCCC offers, said OCCC President Dr. Mautra Staley Jones.

“Oklahoma City Community College is honored to receive this national recognition from Forbes Advisor,” Jones said. “Offering more than 87 degree and certificate programs, OCCC focuses on providing students with flexible learning options that meet their needs.”

OCCC’s online program is designed to help students succeed, said Dr. Juanita Ortiz, vice president of academic affairs at OCCC.

“Rigorous online learning at Oklahoma City Community College is one of our pathways to student success,” Ortiz said. “We are thankful to Forbes Advisor for recognizing our online psychology program as one of the best in the U.S.”
