FORT COBB, Okla. (OBV) – The Caddo Kiowa Technology Center (CKTC) has expanded its truck driver training program with a new facility that will enhance the school efforts to get more certified truck drivers on Oklahoma roads.

The Technology Center recently opened the facility on its Fort Cobb campus.

“We are excited to see the new facility on our campus and look forward to expanding our training opportunities across our state,” said CKTC Superintendent Jennie Nunn.

Money provided through an American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funded the new facility’s construction, according to officials with the Technology Center.

The ARPA money also enabled the Technology Center to acquire four semi-trucks.

CKTC is in its 34th year of providing truck driving training. It also provides the following:

  • Commercial driver’s license training
  • Bus certification training; and,
  • Other customized training for industry partners

CKTC partners with the Western Technology Center in Burns Flat, Southwest Technology Center in Altus and Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton to provide trucking students a full-time training site.

The Training Center has an average of 175 students each year.

The facility’s grand opening was attended by former and current CKTC employees, board members, Oklahoma Department of Career Tech, Western Technology Center, Southwest Technology Center, Canadian Valley Technology Center, Rep. Toni Hasenbeck, Goldsby Construction, Design Architects Plus and former superintendent Tony Hancock.
