OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) – The State Chamber Research Foundation is asking for contributions to help continue its mission of building a better future for Oklahoma businesses.

SCRF is seeking donations as part of GivingTuesday, which will be tomorrow, Dec. 3. GivingTuesday encourages people and organizations across the globe to donate to charitable causes on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Working within The State Chamber of Oklahoma, SCRF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that serves as the Oklahoma business community’s think tank. It works throughout the year to produce research and analysis that gives policymakers and legislators deeper insight into the needs of Oklahoma businesses. Its ultimate objective is to provide policymakers data that will help them transform Oklahoma into an economic powerhouse where businesses thrive.

Because it’s a nonprofit, SCRF relies upon donations to thrive. Donations made to SCRF on GivingTuesday will help the Research Foundation in its ongoing effort to gather data that will help policymakers be better informed about what can be done to help businesses and the overall economy prosper.

“Giving Tuesday is a new avenue to support our body of work. As a 501(c) (3), we are dependent on donations to continue our research, policy and programing supporting a pro-economic growth mindset for Oklahoma’s future,” said Amanda Hall, policy and research manager for The State Chamber.

SCRF’s data-driven research includes The RIED Report and The Oklahoma Scorecard.

The Research Institute for Economic Development (RIED) Report annually evaluates the Oklahoma State Legislature’s support of business following each legislative session. The report provides Oklahomans a scorecard that grades each legislator on their support of legislation that either helps or hinders the state’s business environment. RIED contributes to Oklahoma’s economic growth by evaluating state legislation pertaining to business, workforce, and the economy. The report also profiles each legislator’s voting record, scoring them on their support for business.

The Oklahoma Scorecard also comes out annually from SCRF. The Scorecard evaluates Oklahoma’s competitive position compared to other states across metrics that impact economic growth and prosperity. The Scorecard shows Oklahoma’s policymakers and business leaders the areas where the state needs to grow competitively so it can develop its economy and make Oklahoma a national leader in business and economic development. The Scorecard also measures factors that produce economic growth and prosperity.

SCRF also hosts the Leadership Exchange Academy (LEA) each year. LEA brings together Oklahoma’s top business experts and keenest political minds. The multiday summit is held each summer to connect civic-minded professionals with state government and business leaders. Participants are educated on public policy and the ways by which the state government helps facilitate business development.

All money donated to SCRF directly supports its research, advocacy and policy publications that promote economic growth and job creation in Oklahoma. Donations to SCRF are tax deductible, in accordance with the IRS code for 501(c)(3) organizations.
