OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — Sen. Spencer Kern (R‑Duncan) has been elected Secretary of the State Ag and Rural Leaders (SARL) Board during the organization’s Legislative Agriculture Chairs Summit held Jan. 3–5 in Louisiana. As secretary, Kern will support board efforts to strengthen cooperation, leadership, and policy development among North American agriculture leaders.

“I am honored to have been elected by fellow state lawmakers from across the country to serve as the Secretary of SARL,” Kern said. “In this role, I look forward to collaborating with fellow agriculture leaders to ensure that farmers and ranchers’ voices are heard, their challenges are addressed, and policies are advanced to support rural communities and strengthen the agriculture industry.”

Kern, a rancher, will serve alongside Sen. Casey Murdock, chair of the Senate Agriculture and Wildlife Committee. “Senator Kern brings a wealth of experience in agriculture and rural affairs to this role,” Murdock said. “He has been a strong advocate for Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers, and his leadership will ensure our state has a strong voice as SARL works to support and grow our nation’s agriculture industry.”

SARL is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit comprised of state legislative agriculture chairs and lawmakers across the United States, along with elected officials from Canada and Puerto Rico.
