Mecad Picks Port of Catoosa for U.S. HQ, Brings 300 Jobs

Mecad USA has selected the Tulsa Port of Catoosa as the site of its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing operations, a move expected to create nearly 300 jobs in northeastern Oklahoma. The company’s investment positions the Port as a new base for its North American operations serving aerospace, energy, and advanced manufacturing markets.

Company leaders cited Oklahoma’s recent policy changes as a key factor in the decision, particularly the state’s 2025 behind-the-meter energy legislation. The law allows industrial and commercial users to develop on-site power generation and storage systems without being regulated as public utilities, giving manufacturers greater flexibility in managing energy costs and reliability.

“The flexibility provided by Oklahoma’s new behind-the-meter law significantly de-risks our energy strategy,” said Candido Romero, CEO of Mecad USA and Mecad del Valles SL. “Coupled with the Port’s infrastructure and the state’s transportation network, the site is ideally suited for our next phase of innovation.”

Mecad USA specializes in precision components, industrial automation, and advanced systems. Its Port of Catoosa facility will integrate production, testing, and systems assembly, with access to rail, barge, and highway transportation supporting regional and national distribution.

The new jobs will include engineering, production, maintenance, technical, and support roles. Hiring is expected to begin in mid-2026, with a focus on workforce partnerships and training aligned with automation, additive manufacturing, and systems integration.

“It’s been an extraordinary year for economic development in Oklahoma, and companies continue to see our state as the best place in the country to raise a family and start or grow a business,” said John Budd, CEO of the Oklahoma Department of Commerce. “With our affordable energy and business-friendly policies, Oklahoma is the perfect home for next-generation manufacturers like Mecad USA.”
