OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — Local chamber leaders from across Oklahoma gathered at the State Capitol this week for Chamber Day, a State Chamber event designed to connect community business advocates with lawmakers and policy leaders.
The day featured panel discussions, networking, and informal conversations on priorities ranging from economic development to education and health care, followed by the Chamber’s Taco Tuesday reception.
“It was a great opportunity to get together with our legislators, to really kind of have one on one conversations with them,” said Houston Brittain, president of the Pryor Chamber. “To talk about how can we as local communities like Pryor and across the state, work to do our part to help them to make the right decisions here at the Capitol.” Brittain said the format also created space for chamber executives to compare notes and share feedback directly with elected officials.
Chamber leaders also emphasized the value of hearing from peers across regions. Amanda Davis, president of the Grove Chamber, said the event underscored common issues facing both rural and urban communities.
“Chamber work is hard work, but it’s rewarding,” Davis said. “It’s a busy time for them, so I very much appreciated that they took their time out to spend the day with us.”
