Guernsey names Laura Fawcett director of cybersecurity assessments

OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — Guernsey promoted Laura Fawcett to director of cybersecurity assessments as the Oklahoma City-based firm continues to expand its national Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification practice.

In her new role, Fawcett will oversee Guernsey’s independent cybersecurity assessment services, including CMMC assessments for organizations operating within the defense industrial base and other highly regulated sectors. She will lead assessment teams, refine assessment methodologies, and maintain the required separation between assessment and consulting services.

The company said the promotion strengthens Guernsey’s cybersecurity assessment leadership as demand grows for independent cybersecurity verification and compliance services.

“Laura has been instrumental in establishing and growing our assessment program, building on our successful consulting services and advancing our role as a trusted cybersecurity partner,” said Jared Stigge, chief executive officer of Guernsey. “Her expertise and leadership have helped position Guernsey as a respected leader within the CMMC ecosystem.”

Guernsey is the eighth Certified Third-Party Assessment Organization in the nation authorized to conduct independent CMMC assessments for organizations seeking compliance with U.S. Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements.

Earlier this year, Fawcett was appointed to the CAP Committee of the Cyber AB’s C3PAO Advisory Council. The committee helps oversee, guide, and maintain the integrity, consistency, and effectiveness of the CMMC Assessment Process Guide and related assessment procedures used throughout the defense industrial base.

“Organizations supporting the Department of Defense face increasing pressure to demonstrate cybersecurity compliance and protect sensitive information,” Fawcett said. “I’m honored to lead our assessment practice and help organizations navigate CMMC requirements while strengthening their cybersecurity posture.”

Fawcett brings nearly 30 years of experience across engineering, information technology, governance, risk management, and compliance.

Guernsey is a multidisciplinary design and consulting firm based in Oklahoma City. The firm provides architecture, engineering, cybersecurity, utility consulting, and planning services to clients across the United States.
