Carvana operations support 760 Oklahoma jobs, $153 million in economic activity

OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — Carvana’s Oklahoma operations supported 760 jobs and generated more than $153 million in statewide economic activity in 2025, according to a new economic impact report prepared for the online automotive retailer.

The report found Carvana directly employed 463 Oklahomans, while company spending and employee activity supported an additional 297 jobs. Its operations also generated approximately $38.3 million in labor income.

“While many people know Carvana as an online car retailer, our business is powered by a significant operational footprint,” said Carling Dinkler, Carvana’s head of government affairs for the West Region. “Behind every vehicle we sell is a network of reconditioning, logistics, and fulfillment operations that creates jobs and generates economic activity in the communities where we operate.”

Carvana operates three Oklahoma facilities: an Oklahoma City inspection and reconditioning center, the ADESA wholesale auction and logistics facility in Tulsa, and an Oklahoma City car vending machine. The company entered the Oklahoma market in 2017.

The Oklahoma City reconditioning center accounts for most of the company’s employment and economic activity in the state. The facility refurbished more than 31,000 vehicles in 2025, while Oklahoma residents purchased approximately 10,000 vehicles from Carvana. The difference reflects vehicles prepared in Oklahoma and sold to customers elsewhere, bringing additional economic activity into the state.

The center’s operations include mechanical repairs, cosmetic refurbishment, painting, inspections, photography, quality control, fleet maintenance, and regional logistics. The report described the process as similar to light manufacturing because vehicles move through a series of specialized workstations before being listed for sale.

Carvana also made more than $131 million in Oklahoma vendor payments across more than 100,000 transactions during 2025. The report estimated that approximately $52 million of that activity remained within the state through purchases of parts, supplies, professional services, fleet services, and facility maintenance.

The company’s operations supported an estimated $19.47 million in state and local tax revenue, including approximately $10.2 million in motor vehicle excise and sales taxes.

“In Oklahoma alone, our operations supported nearly 800 jobs and generated just under $20 million in state and local tax revenue in 2025,” Dinkler said. “This report highlights the meaningful impact those investments continue to have across the state.”
