OKLAHOMA CITY — State Rep. Steve Bashore was appointed to the executive committee of the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States, a national organization of lawmakers focused on gaming policy and regulation.
The executive committee serves as the governing body for the nonpartisan organization, which examines issues including casinos, lotteries, pari-mutuel wagering, responsible gaming, sports betting, iGaming, and state-federal relations involving tribal gaming.
Bashore, R-Miami, said the appointment will allow him to bring Oklahoma’s experience as a gaming compact state into national policy discussions.
“I’m honored to both bring Oklahoma’s perspective as a gaming compact state to the table and to learn from other national legislators who have devoted years of study to the issues surrounding gaming in their own states,” Bashore said.
Bashore serves as deputy floor leader in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. Before joining the Legislature, he served as general manager of Buffalo Run Casino & Resort in northeast Oklahoma.
His House district includes Ottawa County and portions of Craig and Delaware counties, an area that includes several tribal gaming operations.
