GUTHRIE, Okla. (OBV) – A conference set to be held in Central Oklahoma this fall will focus on a key concern that is crucial in determining a person’s ability to get a job and succeed in the workforce: adult education and literacy.

The Oklahoma Adult Education & Literacy Conference: FOCUS will be held at Meridian Technology Center’s South Campus, 3025 S Division St., in Guthrie.

“The Adult Education & Literacy Conference is the premier educational and networking event in Oklahoma for individuals involved in working with adult literacy,” Oklahoma Literacy Coalition officials said.

The conference will be held Oct. 30-31, with a pre-conference on Oct. 29.

The pre-conference will include an awards program celebrating adult learners. The main conference will include several sessions.

Krista Scammahorn will deliver a keynote speech on mastering FOCUS and attention control. A description of the keynote topic is as follows:

“Embark on a transformative journey with us as we delve into the art of conquering focus and attention in the modern era. In this immersive session, you will be equipped with powerful, real-world techniques that transcend the boundaries of distraction. Gain the upper hand over the digital noise that surrounds us and take charge of your productivity like never before.”

Twenty percent of Oklahoma’s population has low literacy, as of June 2023, according to World Population Review.

Go to CareerTech’s website for information about adult education and family literacy opportunities and information.
