MIDWEST CITY (OBV) – The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) and Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) are giving Oklahomans the opportunity to start the ignition on building their careers.

OESC and ODOT will host a job fair, offering opportunities for jobs in the transportation or construction industries.

The job fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Rose State College’s Jeanie Webb Student Union, 1910 Hudiburg Drive, in Midwest City. Veterans are allowed early entry at 9 a.m.

Employers and professionals representing a range of transportation and construction fields, including over-the-road drivers, welders, warehouse/distribution personnel and heavy equipment operators, will attend the job fair.

Job seekers who attend the job fair can explore competitive salaries and benefits, flexible scheduling, professional development and more, while also getting an up-close look at industry equipment and vehicles that will be on-site.

The following organizations will participate in the job fair:

  • Action Safety Supply
  • BNSF Railway
  • Central Oklahoma Workforce
  • City of Edmond
  • CL BOYD Co. Inc.
  • Devon Industries
  • Duit Construction
  • Edmond Public Schools
  • EMBARK
  • Emery Sapp and Sons
  • Kirby-Smith Machinery, Inc.
  • Mathis Home
  • Mid-Del Technology Center
  • Oklahoma Department of Transportation
  • Oklahoma Turnpike Authority
  • Oklahoma Department of Public Safety
  • 160 Driving Academy, LLC.
  • Pro Drive CDL Academy
  • Silver Star Construction
  • UPS
  • Warren CAT
  • W&W-AFCO Steel.

Transportation and industrial jobs rank high among Oklahoma’s top 100 critical occupations.

Friday’s job fair will be OESC’s first large-scale hiring event since summer of 2021, according to Hunter McEachern, media relations coordinator for OESC.

OESC held multiple large-scale events each year, primarily in the metro areas, prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, McEachern said.
