OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) – Oklahoma State Rep. John Pfeiffer has thrown his hat into the race for Oklahoma Labor Commissioner, promising to support Oklahoma businesses.

Pfeiffer, who is a Marine Corps veteran and rancher in Logan County, has represented District 38 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives since 2014. He is the majority deputy floor leader in the House of Representatives, a position he filled two years ago.

He is now running for the Labor Commission job on the Republican ticket. He vowed to bring conservative leadership, workforce development and pro-business energy to the Oklahoma Department of Labor.

He also pledged to “protect jobs, cut job-killing red tape and push back against federal overreach hurting Oklahoma’s economy,” according to his campaign announcement.

“I’ve fought for Oklahoma values in the State House, and now I’m ready to fight for our workers and businesses as Labor Commissioner,” Pfeiffer said. “We need less bureaucracy, more opportunity, and someone who won’t back down from liberal labor policies that threaten our economy and way of life.”

Pfeiffer said as a state representative he has advocated for lower taxes, less regulation and stronger support for local industry and agriculture. He said he will continue that mission as a labor commissioner by modernizing the state’s workforce systems, eliminating unnecessary government interference and defending the rights of both employers and workers.

His campaign platform includes strengthening workforce training, supporting small business growth, defending worker freedom and opposing fraud and abuse.

Pfeiffer serves on several House committees, including Rules, Appropriations and Budget, Utilities, Energy and Natural Resources Oversight and GCCA.
