OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) – Oklahoma City Community College is giving businesses across the state an opportunity to meet and hire new talent during a career fair on Thursday.

The career fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Main Building gymnasium on the OCCC campus.

The event will be attended by scores of OCCC students looking for an opportunity to begin their career and contribute to Oklahoma’s workforce.

“OCCC students are ready and well-prepared to fill the employment gaps our industry partners face,” said Dr. Mautra Staley Jones, president of OCCC. “Workforce development and career readiness are critical components of the educational experience at OCCC.”

OCCC will have more than 1,900 graduates this May. Those students will have earned associate degree and professional certificates in a wide range of career fields, including nursing, computer science, cybersecurity, business, psychology and more.

Many of those graduates have already obtained professional experience thanks to OCCC’s course flexibility, which allows students to participate in the workforce while completing their degree, certificate or micro-credential.

Several of the college’s academic programs, including digital cinema production, automotive technology and those in the Division of Health Professions, encourage an “earn while you learn” pathway.

“OCCC wants to partner with area businesses to help them fill their workforce needs,” said Amy Brooks Young, executive director of Career Success and Workforce Development at OCCC. “Oklahoma City Community College career fairs are opportunities for employers to meet with OCCC students looking to get hired.”

Go to OCCC’s career fair webpage for more information on the career fair.
