OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — The Oklahoma Senate approved SB 1378 March 9, creating the “Olympics in Oklahoma Revolving Fund” at the Department of Commerce to support activities tied to hosting 2028 Olympic events.

The fund can receive appropriations, donations, grants and other revenues, and at least 5% of expenditures must go to Oklahoma‑based businesses. The measure carries an emergency clause and a July 1, 2026 effective date.

“Today’s unanimous passage of Senate Bill 1378 sends a clear message that Oklahoma is ready to seize the economic opportunities surrounding the 2028 Summer Olympics,” Senator Kristen Thompson said. “This legislation will help ensure local businesses, from restaurants and hotels to small vendors and event venues, are positioned to benefit from the increased tourism and activity that will come with the Olympics being hosted in our state. I’m grateful to my colleagues for their support as we work to make sure our state engages in a meaningful way and that the economic impact reaches communities across Oklahoma.”

The measure passed 46–0 and now proceeds to the House for consideration.
