CLAREMORE, Okla. — Oklahoma Sen. Ally Seifried was honored by Rogers State University with the Distinguished Hillcat Award at the university’s Distinguished Alumni Awards Dinner on April 25.

Seifried, a Claremore native who has represented Senate District 2 since 2022, graduated summa cum laude from RSU in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Before entering public service, she played three seasons for the RSU women’s basketball team, including during one of the most successful stretches in program history.

“I was incredibly honored when I learned about being selected as a Distinguished Alumni,” Seifried said. “Rogers State played a huge role in shaping my life and career, so being recognized by the university means a great deal.”

According to RSU, Seifried helped lead the effort to secure $10 million in state funding for the university’s Robson Center for Science and Technology. She said the investment will benefit future students and help support the next generation of leaders.

Seifried credited her time at RSU, both in the classroom and on the basketball court, with helping build the discipline, curiosity and work ethic she relies on in public service.

“Playing basketball while I was balancing school taught me discipline, time management, and how to push through challenges,” Seifried said. “Looking back, RSU helped build the curiosity and work ethic I rely on every day.”

The April 25 dinner also recognized Jaelynn Unger with the Rising Star Award and Michelle Rahn with the Hill Legacy Award.
