OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) – An Oklahoma banking industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience is the new chief executive officer of Chickasaw Community Bank.

Chickasaw Community Bank representatives recently announced that Bill Schonacher will be the bank’s new CEO, effective March 4.

Schonacher has worked in Oklahoma’s banking industry for 32 years. He most recently served as CEO of IBC Bank Oklahoma from 2014-2024, and before that served as president of IBC Bank’s Tulsa Region, starting in 2004. He was also chairman of The State Chamber of Oklahoma from 2022-2023.

“Bill is a seasoned banking expert who brings a deep understanding of commercial lending as well as business and retail banking to our market,” said Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby. “His extensive expertise in banking and his capability for enhancing existing services and adding new service offerings into our business model make him the ideal leader for Chickasaw Community Bank.”

Schonacher was pivotal in aligning IBC Bank’s operations with Oklahoma growth sectors, including oil and gas exploration, construction, manufacturing and business services. He guided all aspects of IBC’s network, which has 41 locations serving 30 cities in 20 counties across Oklahoma and North Texas, including locations in Oklahoma City, Tulsa metro areas, Lawton, surrounding rural communities and the Dallas Metroplex.

“Bill is widely known throughout our state as a very capable banker and civic leader,” said Dan Boren, Chickasaw Nation Secretary of Commerce. “We are excited to have him bring a fresh perspective and innovative strategies that will enhance our operations and our community engagements at Chickasaw Community Bank.”

Chickasaw Community Bank was originally established in 2002 as Bank2. Its assets have grown from $9 million to $447 million. The bank was rebranded Chickasaw Community Bank in 2020 to better reflect its commitment to fostering economic growth and prosperity in the regions it serves, according to Tony Choate, executive officer for the Chickasaw Nation’s Media Relations office.

Chickasaw Community Bank is one of the nation’s leading providers of 184 First American Home loans.

“Through this focus on home loan generation, the bank has cultivated a $1.3-billion mortgage servicing portfolio while enabling numerous First American families to achieve their dream of homeownership,” Choate said.

Schonacher said he looks forward to helping Chickasaw Community Bank continue to grow.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead Chickasaw Community Bank, a bank that values not just financial success but also the well-being and growth of the communities we serve. Together, with the support of our dedicated team, we will continue to build on the bank’s strong foundation while forging new paths in community engagement and economic development,” Schonacher said.

Chickasaw Community Bank is focused on expanding its services and reinforcing its support of local communities and businesses. Schonacher’s strategic vision for the bank includes enhancing its financial service offerings and strengthening its role as a community pillar through increased engagement and support.

The bank opened its newest branch at 7500 West Memorial Road in Oklahoma City last May.

Schonacher has an array of volunteer efforts and board memberships. He’s the chairman of Political Affairs of The State Chamber; chairman of the State Chamber Research Foundation; vice chairman of Oklahoma’s Judicial Nominating Commission; board member of several organizations, including the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and the United Way of Central Oklahoma. He’s also a national trustee of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

He was previously the vice chairman of the TSET Board of Investors; a steering committee member of Forward OKC IV & V; board member of the Oklahoma Bankers Association; Leadership Oklahoma Class XXX member; and board member of Allied Arts.
