MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (OBV) – Rose State College in Midwest City will offer a new associate of science degree in artificial intelligence and machine learning beginning this upcoming fall semester.

AI/ML technologies are transforming industries worldwide, and those rapid changes are creating a substantial demand for professionals who possess those particular skills, according to Rose State officials.

“This new program aims to meet Oklahoma’s workforce demand by providing students with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in this rapidly evolving field,” Rose State officials said.

AI and ML are being used in a wide range of industries, including healthcare, automotive, finance and technology, to maximize workplace efficiency.

“These fields are at the forefront of technological advancement and economic growth, making expertise in AI/ML highly valuable,” Rose State officials said.

Rose State’s AI/ML program seeks to equip students with fundamental and practical knowledge through a curriculum that includes comprehensive courses such as Artificial Intelligence Thinking, Machine Learning Foundations, Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision. Each course is designed to build a strong foundation and provide hands-on experience in AI/ML technologies for new careers.

“Rose State College is committed to advancing higher education and meeting the needs of the workforce,” Rose State College Vice President of Academic Affairs Travis Hurst said. “We are excited about the opportunities this program will create for our students and the positive impact it will have on our community.”

The program is geared to prepare students for the high-demand careers in expanding fields such as data science, robotics and autonomous systems.

“The curriculum has been developed in response to industry needs, ensuring that students are workforce-ready upon graduation,” school officials said.

The program will include both theoretical and practical aspects of AI/ML as well as foster a learning environment that encourages problem-solving.
