OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — Newsweek magazine readers named Science Museum Oklahoma one of the best science museums in the nation.

Newsweek‘s 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards ranked Science Museum Oklahoma the sixth best science museum in the United States.

The magazine praised Science Museum Oklahoma for its myriad offerings that educate children while providing them activity and adventure.

“Load up the kids and drive to Science Museum Oklahoma for over 390,000 square feet of educational fun. Children love adventuring through CurioCity, a village with eight distinct neighborhoods, and challenging their bodies with activities like a climbing wall at Power Play. Unlike many other institutions, Science Museum Oklahoma doesn’t charge extra for entrance to its planetarium, so take advantage and see a show while there,” Newsweek states.

The honor is recognition of Science Museum Oklahoma’s devotion to celebrating science, according to Sherry Marshall, John E. Kirkpatrick CEO of Science Museum Oklahoma.

“Being ranked among the top science museums in the country is a testament to our commitment to quality interactive experiences that foster a love for science,” Marshall said. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our team and the support of our incredible Oklahoma community.”

Science Museum Oklahoma officials touted the state-of-the-art Love’s Planetarium as a highlight for patrons.

The 390,000-square-foot museum is located at 2020 Remington Place, in Oklahoma City’s Adventure District.

As Newsweek acknowledged in its blurb, Science Museum Oklahoma does not charge its patrons an additional cost for planetarium shows.

The museum has a wide array of exhibits and interactive experiences for guests of all ages, including the immersive CurioCity—a children’s museum within the museum—as well as Science Live’s dynamic shows.

“This national recognition underscores the museum’s role as a leader in science education, not just in Oklahoma, but across the country. By offering world-class exhibits and relevant experiences, Science Museum Oklahoma continues to inspire future generations of scientists, engineers, and innovators,” Science Museum Oklahoma officials said.

Science Museum Oklahoma is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
