OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — The Oklahoma Film + Music Office added six new towns to the Oklahoma Film Friendly Community Program in 2025, bringing the total number of certified communities statewide to 43.

The newly designated Film Friendly communities are Alva, Ardmore, Freedom, Oklahoma City, Owasso, and Waynoka, according to an announcement from the Oklahoma Department of Commerce.

The Film Friendly Community Program is designed to help cities and towns prepare for film and television productions by establishing local points of contact, streamlining permitting processes, and coordinating municipal support services.

“Being film-friendly is the best way to show potential film and television clients that your city is primed and ready to host productions in Oklahoma,” said Jeanette Stanton, director of the Oklahoma Film + Music Office.

In 2025, the Film + Music Office facilitated 34 film and television productions across the state, generating an estimated $65.7 million in local spending and supporting 5,336 jobs. Several productions filmed in certified Film Friendly communities, including The Lowdown, which was shot throughout northeast Oklahoma and recently renewed for a second season.

The program continues to serve as a statewide tool for communities seeking to participate in Oklahoma’s growing film and television industry while showcasing local assets and locations.
