U.S. Chamber frames community‑first case for data centers

U.S. Chamber frames community‑first case for data centers

OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — The U.S. Chamber published a March 17 piece arguing that data centers are critical infrastructure and, when developed responsibly, can expand local tax bases, create skilled jobs in construction and operations, and bolster connectivity for public safety, hospitals and schools while protecting resources and ratepayers through transparency.

The article highlights early, ongoing community engagement, plain‑language project details, noise and traffic mitigation, thoughtful site design and landscaping, transparent reporting on energy and water use, and acceptance of clear local conditions—grid upgrades, keeping existing ratepayers’ costs low, and operators paying the full cost of needed infrastructure—alongside partnerships with colleges and technical schools to build a local talent pipeline.

“The digital economy depends on data centers, but the strongest projects are the ones that deliver visible local value… That’s the Data Center Advantage.”
