OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — Gov. Kevin Stitt appointed Dustin Hilliary to the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents Thursday, a move that now heads to the Oklahoma Senate for confirmation.

Stitt called Hilliary “one of Oklahoma’s most dynamic business leaders,” saying he will “put students first, insist on excellence in the classroom, and make sure OU is tightly aligned with the needs of Oklahoma employers.”

Hilliary currently serves on the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, where he was appointed in 2022, and is co‑CEO of Hilliary Communications, a family‑owned broadband and telecom company that has expanded service across Oklahoma, Texas and Iowa.

He also serves on the State Chamber of Oklahoma’s Executive Committee as Chair‑Elect and Political Affairs Chair.

“Our flagship university must be a powerhouse for Oklahoma’s workforce. I look forward to working with my fellow regents to keep OU affordable, competitive, and laser‑focused on preparing students for the jobs of tomorrow,” Hilliary said.

Chancellor Sean Burrage praised the appointment, noting Hilliary’s push for “accountability” and better workforce alignment on the State Regents and expressing confidence he will bring the same energy to OU.

  • Role: Co‑CEO, Hilliary Communications; member, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
  • Background: Helped grow the family’s rural telecom into a regional broadband provider and co‑publisher of Hilliary Media Group outlets.
