OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) – Workforce issues top the list of concerns for Oklahoma business owners for the fourth straight year, according to the annual Business Leaders Poll by the State Chamber Research Foundation and Oklahoma Business Roundtable. The Oklahoma legislature has passed laws over the last few years to realign state goals to meet the needs of employers…. but are they working?

Kyla Guyette, CEO of the Oklahoma Workforce Commission

The condition of workforce in Oklahoma will be the focus of a few interim studies happening next week. On Oct. 13, Representative Brian Hill (R, Mustang) will be leading the proceeding that will also feature presentations by Oklahoma Workforce Commission CEO Kyla Guyette, State Director of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education Brent Haken and leaders from higher education.

“Workforce is the number one issue facing our businesses across the state,” said Rep. Hill. “Job creators have talked about this over the last several years, as the number one issue that they are facing. I believe that by hearing from the experts and looking at the data, we can identify what’s working and what’s not working. Then we can make educated decisions to move our great state forward.”

The agenda for the interim study also includes presentations from Tulsa Innovation Labs and Broken Arrow’s Vanguard Academy.
