INSURICA acquires WorkCompOne to expand digital small-business insurance

The Oklahoma City company adds an online workers’ compensation agency as it expands its reach among small-business customers.

OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — INSURICA acquired WorkCompOne, a digital insurance agency that helps small businesses shop for workers’ compensation coverage.

Announced Oct. 12, the transaction took effect Sept. 1 and includes WorkCompOne’s website, customer accounts, and tools for attracting prospective customers.

Founded in 2012, WorkCompOne developed online quoting and purchasing services for small-business owners. INSURICA plans to build on those capabilities through its digital agency, INSURICA Direct.

John Hester, INSURICA’s chief acquisitions and digital strategy officer, said WorkCompOne’s policy and pricing capabilities could also support other parts of the company.

INSURICA places more than $2 billion in annual insurance premiums for clients and employs more than 1,000 people across more than 35 offices, according to the company.
