BENTONVILLE, Ark. (OBV) – Sam’s Club pharmacies continue to be the best pharmacies in the nation at meeting customer needs, according to a study from J.D. Power.

J.D. Power, a top customer intelligence company, gave Sam’s Club pharmacies the number one ranking in Customer Satisfaction with Mass Merchandiser Pharmacies for the eighth consecutive year, according to Sam’s Club corporate officials.

The ranking is part of the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Pharmacy StudySM.

J.D. Power has given Sam’s Club this honor 10 of the last 12 years.

“This recognition is a reflection of the incredible pharmacists and pharmacy team associates we have across the country who serve our patients with knowledge and care every day,” said Sean Jackson, SVP and GMM, Health and Wellness & Consumables, Sam’s Club. “We work every day to give our patients access to high-quality and affordable health care services, and we are thrilled they responded to this study in such a positive way.”

The annual study, fielded from August 2022 through May 2023, measured customer satisfaction based on the responses of 12,396 pharmacy customers who filled a prescription with either a brick-and-mortar or mail order pharmacy within the past 12 months.

Sam’s Club earned the highest level of overall satisfaction among brick-and-mortar mass merchandiser pharmacies, receiving a score of 788 – a 29-point increase over its 2022 score.

Study respondents rated Sam’s Club the best in pharmacy offerings that meet their needs, which includes medication and health and wellness services. Respondents also ranked Sam’s Club Pharmacy top of the field in level of trust and saving them time and money.

Most of the 600 Sam’s Club locations operate Optical Centers and Hearing Aid Centers. Sam’s Club offers its customers an RxSavings program that provides them access to discounted prescriptions. The retailer also provides additional prescription discounts to its Plus Members.

A Sam’s Club membership is not required to purchase prescription medication at Sam’s Club pharmacies.

“We welcome new patients to visit our clubs and meet their local pharmacists to learn how we can help support their health and wellness needs,” Jackson said.

Sam’s Club is part of Walmart Inc.

Oklahoma Business Voice reported at the start of August that Walmart plans to build a 300,000-square-foot, multi-purpose Sam’s Club distribution center at OKC Logistics Park at SW 29th and Council in Oklahoma City. It will be the first such center in Oklahoma.

The new Sam’s Club distribution center will employ 130 associates, according to Amy Wyatt-Moore, senior manager of Sam’s Club’s Corporate Communications office.

The distribution center is expected to open in early 2024, according to the governor’s office.

Walmart employs more than 35,000 people across the state, making it Oklahoma’s largest employer.
