EDMOND, Okla. (OBV) — One of the nation’s top engineering firms is completing its acquisition of a firm based in Edmond, Okla.

The nationally-ranked firm, Olsson, is finalizing negotiations to acquire Darr & Collins, a mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) engineering firm in Edmond.

Olsson is purchasing Darr & Collins to enhance its MEP services and expand its presence in Oklahoma.

Darr & Collins was founded in 1995 and designs MEP systems for the hospitality, education, corporate office, government, correctional, health care, banking and industrial markets.

“We are thrilled to add Darr & Collins’ expertise to our suite of services,” said Dave Roberts, Olsson’s Chief Development Officer. “They have an excellent reputation in mechanical and electrical design. I’m eager to welcome their employees to our Oklahoma City office.”

Darr & Collins staff will be able to work on higher level projects and access expanded career pathways across Olsson’s national presence.

“We are excited to join Olsson,” said Chuck Darr, principal at Darr & Collins. “This acquisition will allow us to continue providing the quality services our clients expect while expanding the services we offer.”

Olsson was founded in 1956 in Lincoln, Neb. The company has 36 offices throughout the U.S., including two in Oklahoma City and one Tulsa. The Oklahoma offices have around 150 employees combined.

Engineering News-Record annually ranks Olsson as one of the top 100 engineering firms in the nation.

Mike Gilloon, who is part of Olsson’s Corporate Communications office, spoke with Oklahoma Business Voice about the acquisition.

Olsson is best known for its civil engineering and transportation work in Oklahoma.

“This acquisition will help us bolster our MEP skills and helps us compete at a higher level,” Gilloon said. “This strengthens our capabilities in Oklahoma.”

Olsson has had a large number of projects across the state and has supported Oklahoma non-profit organizations.

“That’s something we’re looking to continue to grow,” Gilloon said. “Oklahoma’s a very important market for us.”

Olsson’s acquisition of Darr & Collins is expected to be complete on Feb. 28.
