MARIETTA, Okla. (OBV) – Dollar Tree will build a massive new distribution center in Marietta, Okla., to replace a previous center that was destroyed by a tornado last year.

“We are thrilled to announce our return to Marietta,” said Mike Kindy, Executive Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer, Dollar Tree, Inc. “This region and the Marietta community are critically important in our supply chain network and will be essential to our future growth. We’re proud of the role we’ve played in the greater Marietta community, and we hope to welcome back many associates, bringing the Dollar Tree spirit back to the area.”

Four people were killed, around 300 people were injured and several businesses and homes were destroyed by tornadoes that tore through Hughes, Love and Murray counties on the night of April 27, 2024, and into the early morning hours of April 28.

The tornadoes destroyed 136 homes and caused major damage to 58 homes. Several businesses were either destroyed or badly damaged.

The Dollar Tree distribution center was one of many structures destroyed in Marietta.

The new distribution center will be one million square feet and is expected to be fully operation by spring 2027. It will have the capacity to serve 700 Dollar Tree locations across nation’s West and Southwest regions.

It will also feature technological advancements, including temperature-control and new mechanizations such as high-speed sortation to improve overall efficiency.

Gov. Kevin Stitt said the new distribution center will bring hundreds of jobs to the Marietta area.

“The opening of the Marietta distribution center will bring 400 jobs back to Oklahoma,” Stitt said. “The reinvestment in the community is a testament to the importance of building strong local relationships and furthers our reputation as a business-friendly state.”

Marietta Mayor Destry Rushing welcomes Dollar Tree’s return.

“Dollar Tree returning means so much to us,” Rushing said. “They have done so much for our community, extending their impact by supporting and uplifting the people of Marietta.”
