PRYOR (OBV) — Google is doubling down on its presence in Oklahoma with a massive $9 billion investment over the next two years, a move that will bring new infrastructure, high-tech jobs, and expanded workforce training to the state.

Announced Wednesday at a community celebration in Pryor, the plan includes building a new data center in Stillwater, expanding the company’s existing Mayes County campus, and launching a series of workforce and education initiatives. The investment represents one of the largest corporate commitments in Oklahoma’s recent history.
“With today’s announcement, we’re accelerating our commitment to Oklahoma with AI and cloud infrastructure, workforce development, and education,” said Ruth Porat, president and chief investment officer of Alphabet and Google. “These investments are designed to ensure the U.S. continues to lead in AI, while unlocking economic opportunity and creating good jobs across the state.”

Boosting AI and Cloud Infrastructure
The new Stillwater facility and expanded Pryor campus will join Google’s global network of data centers, which power the company’s AI capabilities and digital services. Google says its Oklahoma operations are among the most energy-efficient in the industry.
To support the expansion, the company has signed agreements to add more than 700 megawatts of clean energy to the state’s power grid. Earlier this year, Google also committed $1.5 million to a regenerative agriculture program that aims to replenish an estimated 200 million gallons of water annually over the next seven years.
Governor Kevin Stitt hailed the move as proof that Oklahoma is “the most business-friendly state in the country.”
Workforce Development at Scale
Google is partnering with the electrical training ALLIANCE (etA) to help meet the growing demand for skilled trades in energy infrastructure. Backed by Google.org funding, the initiative will integrate AI tools into training programs and expand the number of electrical apprentices in Oklahoma by 135% by 2030.
The investment builds on Google’s existing workforce contributions — including digital skills training for more than 150,000 Oklahomans — and the wide range of jobs it already supports, from computer engineering to food service.
“This significant investment is a game-changer for Stillwater,” said Stillwater Mayor Will Joyce. “It brings high-quality jobs, new opportunities, and economic benefits for the entire region.”
Preparing the Next Generation of AI Talent
Google’s education push will give every college student in Oklahoma free access to AI tools, training, and job search resources. The University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University are among the first institutions to join the Google AI for Education Accelerator, offering no-cost Google Career Certificates and AI coursework to students, faculty, and staff.
The education programs are part of Google’s broader $1 billion national commitment to American education and competitiveness.
Economic Ripple Effects
Google’s footprint is already felt across Oklahoma’s economy. In 2024, the company’s tools and services supported more than $2.2 billion in economic activity for tens of thousands of state businesses, nonprofits, publishers, and creators.
Local leaders say the latest investment will amplify that impact. “Not only has Google brought hundreds of jobs and billions in investment,” said Pryor Mayor Zac Doyle, “they continue to support our schools, nonprofits, and the broader community, marking a new chapter in our city’s success story.”
