Lambda plans Mayes County data center, projects $500 million in taxes
The AI cloud company expects up to 1,000 construction jobs and 100 permanent positions at its proposed MidAmerica Industrial Park facility.
Lambda plans to build a data center at MidAmerica Industrial Park in Mayes County, a project the company estimates will generate $500 million in taxes over the next decade at current rates.
The company projects up to 1,000 construction jobs and up to 100 permanent positions. The facility would sit in the southern portion of the industrial park, within the Chouteau-Mazie Public School District’s tax boundary.
Lambda said it will pay the facility’s full electricity costs and fund the infrastructure needed to serve it under Oklahoma’s data center ratepayer protection requirements. The company also plans to use closed-loop cooling to reduce water consumption. Grand River Dam Authority CEO Dan Sullivan said Lambda will cover upfront infrastructure costs so those expenses are not passed to other GRDA customers.
MidAmerica and GRDA selected Lambda after evaluating potential developers for the site. Cloverleaf Infrastructure will prepare the property for development. Lambda and MidAmerica said they will continue meeting with local leaders and residents as planning proceeds; the announcement did not specify a construction start date.
