OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — Harvard’s Honoring Nations program named two Oklahoma initiatives among its 2025 awardees: Citizen Potawatomi Nation’s Iron Horse Industrial Park and the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation.

Citizen Potawatomi: Active foreign‑trade zone site
Iron Horse Industrial Park near Shawnee operates as a magnet site within Greater Oklahoma City’s Foreign‑Trade Zone #106, offering tariff‑management tools such as duty deferral and streamlined customs procedures. “With the Iron Horse Industrial Park operating as part of Greater Oklahoma City’s FTZ #106, companies in the region have an additional tool available to evaluate as they plan for cost management, trade compliance, and long‑term operational efficiency,” wrote Kenton Tsoodle in The Journal Record.

Cherokee Nation: Physician training recognized
Harvard’s awards also cited the College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation, the nation’s first tribally affiliated medical school, which opened in 2020 to expand physician training for rural and tribal communities. Coverage of the program’s 2024 inaugural graduating class highlights its workforce impact across Indian Country.
