OKLAHOMA CITY (OBV) — The Oklahoma Transportation Commission approved a five-year plan that includes nearly $950 million in scheduled improvements to county roads and bridges across all 77 counties.
The County Improvements for Roads and Bridges Plan for fiscal years 2027 through 2031 will fund upgrades to off-system infrastructure maintained by county governments rather than the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
The updated plan calls for replacing or rehabilitating 238 county bridges, including 105 currently classified as structurally deficient or functionally obsolete, and improving 808 miles of county roadways.
Major projects include a more than $20 million reconstruction of the Belford Bridge over the Arkansas River in Pawnee County, a nearly $5 million reconstruction of Imo Road in Garfield County, and a $10 million improvement project on Newport Road near Lone Grove in Carter County.
Transportation Secretary and ODOT Executive Director Tim Gatz said the investments will improve safety, mobility, and long-term county infrastructure.
